Socure × Qlarifi
In December 2025, identity verification platform Socure acquired Qlarifi, a real-time consumer credit database for the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) sector. [32, 34] The deal, with undisclosed terms, is intended to create a unified infrastructure for identity, fraud prevention, and BNPL credit underwriting, addressing a gap where BNPL transactions have historically operated outside of traditional credit reporting systems. [28, 36] Qlarifi was purpose-built by former Klarna and Zip executives to help lenders protect consumers from overextension. [41]

What it means if you hold data
This acquisition creates a significant new data asset for the rapidly growing BNPL market, which has largely been a blind spot for traditional credit bureaus. [32] By combining real-time BNPL repayment data with identity verification, the deal aims to provide the infrastructure for more responsible lending and fraud reduction, which is of high interest to both lenders and regulators.
